About David Kyte
Being born in Detroit and having lived all my life in Motown, cars would only naturally become a subject for my artistic expression. My Automotive work tends to be not merely a photo with a filter applied, but carefully crafted digital paintings designed to capture the beauty of the subject car. I work in a rather traditional manner, avoiding the use of filters and digital tricks preferring to paint what I want using a Wacom Cintiq LCD display drawing tablet and programs like Photoshop and Corel Painter. This affords me the freedom to create images I want and not just what a photos allows, All the advantages of traditional media but without having to clean brushes. An excellent portrait of an American icon. Minimalist it is and the Cobra in real life could be called a minimalist machine. Having had the pleasure back in the late 60s of borrowing an original 427 CSX (the same one later owned by Tony Hogg of Road & Track) for a week for photography for a book, to this day the experience of that great car remains. All of your art is superb, absolutely.
